Trampoline Safety Tips for Children in Dublin
Most trampoline accidents come down to a handful of avoidable things. Get the set-up right once, agree a few house rules, and a trampoline is a safe way for children to burn off energy.
Start with the safety net
Every BERG trampoline can be supplied with a safety net: the Comfort net on the Favorit range and the Deluxe or Deluxe XL net on the Champion and Elite. Models marked SPORTS are supplied without a net, so check the name before you order. Make sure the net entrance is closed every time someone is bouncing.
Padding over the springs
The padding covers the springs and the frame edge. It is 20mm thick on the Favorit and 30mm on the Champion and Elite. Check it sits flat and covers the springs all the way round before each session.
Anchor an above-ground trampoline
An above-ground trampoline must be anchored. Even a heavy trampoline can move in a storm. An anchor set is €55. InGround and FlatGround trampolines sit in the ground and are far less exposed to wind.
Leave clear space around it
Allow 2 metres of clear space on every side, away from walls, fences, trees, sheds and washing lines.
Choose the right size for the child
The 6.5ft trampoline has a 50kg limit and is for younger children. Older children and teenagers need a larger model. If in doubt, ask us before you order.
House rules
One jumper at a time is the single most effective rule. Supervise younger children. No somersaults without proper training. Take shoes off, empty pockets and keep toys and pets off the mat. Don't bounce when the mat is wet or frosty.
Look it over through the year
Check the net, padding, springs and mat for wear every so often, and after any storm. Genuine BERG springs, mats, safety nets and padding are kept in stock, so a worn part can be replaced without replacing the trampoline.
BERG's Favorit, Champion and Elite ranges are certified to EN 71-14 and carry the GS mark, independently tested by TÜV. Always follow the BERG manual supplied with your trampoline. Call 01 960 1641 if you have a question about safety or sizing.
